Taking a Moment to Remember….

Today is the 5th year anniversary of the terrorists attack on the United States. The loss of the World Trade Center buildings and thousands of lives. I remember where I was as I’m sure you do. I don’t live in New York, but I work for a company that is only blocks from where the World Trade Center buildings once stood. I was contacted by my editor, at the time I wrote on Internet communication, including web telephony.

The phone lines were down in New York, but many could still access their Internet connection and use the telephony tools to contact their loved ones and many did. I was asked to write a “how to” article. It had to be quick, fast, and it was needed urgently. I wrote the article then watched how the day unfolded into a day I’d never forget. I remember the following week going through my web statistics as I always did and noticing on that day the article I wrote to assist was unfortunately the most popular. While my passion is marketing, the significance of the internet and how we use it in our daily lives both in tragedy and in normalcy continues to amaze me. Take a moment today to tell your loved ones how much you care and to hug them even though your schedule is jam-packed - just take a moment to remember the lives that were lost that day and how fortunate we were not to be among them.
