Podcast Marketing

Why a blog on Laura Lake? That’s easy. I love to write, but find that in my professional career of writing I tend to censor what I really think or don’t feel it to be appropriate to post random thoughts. Oh and I also wanted a place where I could put a picture of my cat and I. —>

Today I was pondering the thought of marketing through podcast. Why has this become such a popular trend? We are a world of multitaskers. Multitasking isn’t just for women anymore - we are all doing it.

Working, surfing the web, gleaning knowledge so we can stay ahead of the pack. Podcasts feed that frenzy. We can listen and work at the same time and walk away feeling dually productive.

However, let’s be brutally honest some people shouldn’t be podcasting. At times the recordings remind me of when I was in college and we’d put together our own broadcasting radio station. There were moments..ok a lot of moments of dead air, quality was excruciating to listen to and to be honest we had no plan.

If you are looking to market your company through the use of podcasting, remember it’s a reflection of your professionalism. If you are considering putting together a podcast you’ll want to read MarketingSherpa’s Practical Podcasting Guide for Marketers. It’s a fantastic report that will help you get started.
