Instant Viral Marketing Solution: Pay Per Post

It’s true, I’ve been sucked into the Pay Per Post craze. After all I’ve been in the marketing world for a long time and where else can you go to get instant viral marketing results; especially using the technology of blogging.

Blogs are loved by search engines. The minds behind PayPerPost.com can be described as simply brilliant. Obviously the posts have requirements in order to be compensated for. This may include a high Google PR rank, a minimum number of words, and a times they will state the tone your post must contain. Does this criteria make posts less credible? Perhaps, but I think most Posties (bloggers on PayPerPost) would agreed that if they don’t believe in the product or service they are writing about they simply choose not take the opportunity.

PayPerPost also has a blog that keeps you up to date on what’s going on behind the scenes, news, updates and even a few humorous videos. Their latest posting even shares what search engines thing of PayPerPost. If you want to know more about PayPerPost be sure to check out the PPP blogs.

What a novel idea. But wouldn’t paying a blogger to leave a comment or to write a post about a promoted product produce a conflict of interest? Don’t get me wrong, I strongly feel that professional writers ought to be paid a fair wage for their research and writing, and that micropayment systems often help make this possible. But let’s give a real-world example. Let’s say, theoretically, [a big software company] pays bloggers to write about [a popular software release]. Will the bloggers write favorable or unfavorable reviews? Will the bloggers disclose their financial ties to the software company? This [perceived] conflict of interest is the #1 reason I, as a blogger, have voluntarily refused any and all affiliate marketing deals. I know I’m losing money, but I also know my readers are getting my honest opinion. Your thoughts?
