Marketing Information Overload

It’s Saturday morning, my usual time to sit down and go through my RSS reader, purge through my email folder called “Read!” and just overall feed the information junkie in me – before hitting the gym for my morning workout.

It can get overwhelming and truthfully I think I have a pretty good system. The internet has equipped us with a wealth of information and with the ever-changing world of marketing, the amount of information continues to grow.

How do you keep up? What systems do you implement, so that you don’t miss out on information that is important to you?

I’d love to know.

My Birthday Embrace

I used to hate birthdays, it meant I was getting older.  Gravity would take hold and wrinkles would appear.

I also felt that because my life had not turned out the way I thought it would – married, 2.5 kids and a white picket fence, there was nothing to celebrate.  Time was running out to make that happen.

My perspective changed – thank goodness!

I have found that every year I have become smarter and wiser than the year before.  I could contain gravity by taking care of myself and utilizing the medical technology of today. Wrinkles would only enhance my appearance showing a level of maturity, well that and there is Photoshop now. My eyes were getting worse but I found a pair of really hot glasses.

I embrace every year has a time to celebrate what’s coming, because one thing I have learned is every year just gets better.   This year is no different, I’m one year closer to forty and from what I understand forty is when life really begins, so I’ve got one more year to learn all I can before life begins  – ok, honestly I know life has already begun but it’s amazing how with time our perspectives change, our intuition becomes stronger and our decisions wiser.

At 39, my life isn’t so bad.  I don’t have what some would call the ideal – but I have my ideal.  A career that I love, a voice in the world of marketing, a published book, a fabulous son, two adorable cats and friends that have over time become my closest family.  I’m missing the white picket fence, but I’ve traded it in for a great view of a lake and a home I call a retreat.  I don’t have a significant other, but I have significant time and patience to find the right one if the opportunity presents itself.  My picker has also gotten wiser over time, to that we can all say a BIG Amen!

What will this year bring?  It will bring happiness, laughter, learning and memories that I’ll always hold dear.

Are you ready for your next birthday?

If you wanted to give me a birthday gift, I’d say to you – live this year like it’s your last.  Laugh, cry, take risks and overall never go to bed without the ability to be grateful for one thing that you did or someone did for you in that day.   Make every day count!

Social Haunting

Let’s face it, there are just some people that annoy us, irritate us and just plain get on our nerves. It used to be that I could stop returning their phone calls and emails – eventually they’d disappear and go away. Well, now it’s just not that easy. They haunt you with social media, some even stalk you. By the way, I’m one that thinks stalking is not cool – just for the record.

I know some of you will say, well defriend them or unfollow them. Well smartass, I already have. However, I’m still greeted with other people that post their links, retweet them and overall just haunt me with the fact that they are still in my space – cyber space that is.

Perhaps some of you reading this are thinking to yourself what a cruel woman I am, but that’s not the truth. I just miss the days when I could select to be done with someone and I’d never have to see or hear from them again. Those were the days! I may be the only one to express it, but I cannot be the only one who feels this way.

P.S. – I’m thinking about now that creating this blog to be my uncensored voice may not be the best choice.
