Audience Value vs. PayPerPost

I’ve been missing in action. Ok, not actually missing just busy. As many know I started a new position a month ago, so I have not been posting as regularly as usual.

I promise it will get better, I’m beginning to strike a routine and get in a groove.

Now since I recently promoted PayPerPost, I feel the need to first of all retract that raving review. I’ve given the concept a lot of though, listened to my readers, and now I am willing to admit I was wrong.

While I do think that PayPerPost in general is a grand idea – it contains it’s own flaws. I do understand the need for disclosure. After all when we read reviews we place a certain value on that review. For example, recently I ordered the Blackberry Pearl. I wanted to know what others though ot it, before I dropped the cash. What did I do? I research reviews online, reading what others thought of this phone. The reviews were helpful and I felt I could trust them.

If we do in fact turn blogs into paid advertisements without disclosures we discount the value of the review. Truth is I’m all for making money, but we do have an obligation when it comes to our readers. If we mislead them once do you think they will believe you in the future? You must place the value on your audience not on false advertisements just to gain a buck.

Jim and William thanks for helping me see a different perspective.

Instant Viral Marketing Solution: Pay Per Post

It’s true, I’ve been sucked into the Pay Per Post craze. After all I’ve been in the marketing world for a long time and where else can you go to get instant viral marketing results; especially using the technology of blogging.

Blogs are loved by search engines. The minds behind PayPerPost.com can be described as simply brilliant. Obviously the posts have requirements in order to be compensated for. This may include a high Google PR rank, a minimum number of words, and a times they will state the tone your post must contain. Does this criteria make posts less credible? Perhaps, but I think most Posties (bloggers on PayPerPost) would agreed that if they don’t believe in the product or service they are writing about they simply choose not take the opportunity.

PayPerPost also has a blog that keeps you up to date on what’s going on behind the scenes, news, updates and even a few humorous videos. Their latest posting even shares what search engines thing of PayPerPost. If you want to know more about PayPerPost be sure to check out the PPP blogs.

Viral Marketing: Rap, Country Club and a Tea Party!

On Mondays I spend a good part of my morning catching up on industry news. What I came across today I must admit made me chuckle. Imagine a viral marketing campaign that involves rap and a country club. Could this viral campaign be effective? Hmmmm…you be the judge. How many people will you share it with?
